The Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team snapped its losing streak at six and extended UC Irvine’s losing streak to five with a 66-59 Big West Conference victory Sunday over the Anteaters in the Titan Gym.

Claudette Jackson scored 22 points and had a career-high 20 rebounds. Joey Ray, showing signs in the second half that she might be breaking out of a five-game shooting slump, added 16 points and seven steals to lead Fullerton (6-7, 1-3 in conference).

The lead changed hands seven times during the first 13 minutes of the second half until the Titans scored six consecutive points, four by reserve forward Aggie Garcia, to take a 54-49 lead with 5 minutes 35 seconds remaining.

Irvine (4-10, 0-5) twice cut the lead to two in the next two minutes, but Fullerton put the game away with a 7-0 run that gave the Titans a 64-55 lead with 56 seconds left. Garcia, whose six points were a career-high, started the run with a jump shot.

Ray made two steals in the final two minutes, and Jackson made three of four free throws to help the Titans maintain at least a six-point margin. Twelve of Jackson’s 20 rebounds were offensive.

Karie Yoshioka scored 13 points and Jinelle Williams and Beth Beers each added 10 for Irvine.
