Three fires were reported in Orange County over the weekend, including one Sunday afternoon in Dana Point that caused about $110,000 in damage, authorities said.

The other two fires occurred on Saturday--one in Anaheim and the other in Orange.

The Dana Point blaze was an electrical fire that broke out at 1:52 p.m. in a duplex at 34121 El Encanto Ave. One firefighter suffered minor injuries to his back when he fell through a flaming landing.

Red Cross spokeswoman Diane Burns said two units were destroyed in the fire. She said the Red Cross provided overnight shelter to eight people--including one child--who were burned out of their homes.

The fire also led to a neighbor’s arrest after firefighters checking nearby apartments for damage said they discovered 15 marijuana plants growing in one unit.

Eric Andrew Hoag, 27, was booked on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and held at Orange County Jail.

“The firemen went next door to check and make sure the apartment was OK when they saw the plants,” Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Leonard said. “He was OK, but he also got a free trip to the County Jail.”

Elsewhere, a fire in Anaheim at about 7 p.m. on Saturday caused $75,000 damage at the Glenoaks Apartments at 200 Glenoaks Ave., an Anaheim Fire Department spokesman said. Twelve people--six adults and six juveniles--from three apartments were provided temporary housing by the American Red Cross after the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

And in Orange, another fire caused about $10,500 damage to a house at 810 S. Woodbury St. shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday. The fire burned the roof and attic of the 1,800-square-foot, recently remodeled house. The cause is also under investigation.
