Atlanta Hawk forward Dominique Wilkins should be able to play next season, his surgeon said after Wilkins underwent surgery for a torn right Achilles’ tendon.

Jack Hughston said he had to splice and weave together 30 to 40 strands of the tendon that had torn loose and “looked like the end of a mop.”

Wilkins, 32, ruptured the tendon during the second quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Hughston said Wilkins should return to full strength.
