Michael Moore, a wide receiver for the UCLA football team and highly regarded center fielder for the Bruin baseball team, has made himself eligible for the NFL draft and will forgo his final two seasons of football eligibility.

Moore said he told Bruin Coach Terry Donahue of his intentions last Tuesday and sent the petition to the NFL last Friday.

Moore, 6-4, 210 pounds, is considered one of the top baseball prospects in the nation, and some have projected him as the No. 1 pick in the June baseball draft. Moore, a junior this season in baseball, batted .328 with eight home runs, 28 runs batted in and 22 stolen bases bases in 51 games in 1991.

Moore was the Bruins’ fourth-leading receiver last fall, catching 16 passing for 283 yards.

“I’m getting a lot of attention this year in baseball and it’s looking like it’s going to be the move for me,” Moore said. “But I figured I’d put my hat in the ring (with the NFL). If I don’t get picked up, then it’s baseball.”
