UC Irvine 9, University of San Diego 2--David Bladow (2-0) allowed seven hits and two runs with seven strikeouts in eight innings for host Irvine (3-1). Tim McDonnell had four hits, including a double, and drove in three runs for Irvine.

Chapman 7, Cal State Long Beach 4--Kevin Cook, a junior from Cypress College, had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in four runs for Chapman at Hart Park in Orange. Buster Nietzke added a triple and an RBI for Chapman.
