A team of researchers at the San Diego Supercomputer Center has been awarded nearly $1 million to pursue and expand its cutting-edge computer studies of biology, a UC San Diego spokesman said Thursday.
The grant, awarded by the National Science Foundation, will allow researchers to perform studies ranging from ways to improve the design of future drugs to methods for preserving fish runs from hydroelectric power generators.
Center researchers will collaborate with colleagues from UCSD, the Scripps Research Institute and the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences in performing the studies.
The center, on the UCSD campus, supports computer science and engineering for academic, industry and government purposes.
