Saugus Speedway Gearing for 53rd Season
Saugus Speedway will launch its 53rd season of racing March 28, and two NASCAR Southwest Tour events and a 200-lap NASCAR Winston West race will highlight its sixth-month run.
Along with competition in traditional Grand American Modified, Sportsman and three other stock-car divisions, the schedule calls for six destruction derbies, five train races and the traditional season-ending Fall Spectacular that typically includes all of the aforementioned events.
Also, three racing divisions have been renamed: Street Stock is classified as Pro Stock, Hobby Stock becomes Street Stock and Jalopy is now Hobby Stock.
The 100-lap Southwest Tour races will be held April 25 and Sept. 12. The Winston West series, NASCAR’s most lucrative racing endeavor on the West Coast, will come to Saugus on June 13.
