TUSTIN : 6 Candidates Vying for 3 Council Seats
Six candidates have filed to compete for three council seats in the April 14 municipal election, while the city clerk will run unchallenged.
All three council incumbents have signed up to fight for their seats. Councilman Richard B. Edgar, 70, a retired engineer, was first elected to the council in 1974 and has served since then except for a term from 1978 to 1980.
Councilman Jim Potts, 38, a police sergeant and business owner, was elected in 1990 to fill the remainder of a four-year term left vacant by the resignation of Ronald B. Hoesteroy.
Councilman Earl J. Prescott, 38, a businessman, was appointed to office in April, 1987, and reelected in 1988.
Challenging the three incumbents are Thomas R. Saltarelli, 44, an attorney; Jeannie Jackson, 46, a secretary, and Jeffrey Thomas, 36, a businessman.
City Clerk Mary Wynn, 69, has served in office since 1980. Although she is not being challenged, her name will still appear on the ballot.
