Storm to Remain Intense

Share

Evening showers pounded Orange County on Sunday as a fast-moving cold front swept through the area, dumping heavy rain throughout the county.

Expect the cold front to remain in full force today, bringing as much as two inches of rain in some areas. And if last week is any indication, expect a frustrating commute with monumental traffic jams on the freeways--a virtual given whenever it rains in Southern California.

“There’s a 100% chance for rain” to continue, said Steve Burback, a meteorologist for WeatherData Inc. which provides forecasts for The Times.

Countywide temperature predictions for today are: Anaheim with a high of 63 degrees and an overnight low of 52; Dana Point with a high of 65 and a low of 57; El Toro with a high of 63 and a low of 53.

The showers and clouds are expected to last through Friday. The storm center, which began brewing over the eastern Pacific late last week, is also expected to bring heavy snow to the surrounding mountain areas.
