7-Month Fetus Dies, Woman Hurt in Crash
The fetus of a North Hills woman died after the woman was injured in a single-car accident in Arleta, Los Angeles police said.
The woman, whose name was not released, was a passenger in a car that ran into a tractor-trailer truck parked on Van Nuys Boulevard near Canterbury Avenue on Sunday, Officer Bill Mulvihill said.
“The driver took off and ran,” Mulvihill said.
The woman was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where the 7-month fetus was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. Sunday. The woman was in stable condition Monday with a fractured pelvis and a ruptured bladder, Mulvihill said.
The accident was being investigated.
