Body of Boy Caught in Current Is Found
The body of a 12-year-old Logan Heights boy, who was swept away last week in a rain-swollen flood-control channel near downtown San Diego, was discovered Wednesday morning by the Navy, police said.
Humberto Albarran’s body was discovered shortly after 4 a.m. in Chollas Creek, just south of 32nd Street near Norman Scott Road, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The boy and his brother, Fernando, 13, fell into the rain-choked creek last Thursday night while playing with a canoe, authorities said.
The older boy managed to climb out, but Humberto was swept away by the current. Authorities launched an extensive search for the boy, but by Friday night he was presumed drowned.
