Acting on a tip, Los Angeles County sheriff’s narcotics deputies raided a house in Bellflower and seized 660 pounds of cocaine with a street value of $90 million along with four automatic weapons, authorities said Thursday.
The cocaine was found in a bedroom closet in the house in the 8700 block of Maple Street on Wednesday, and a search of a house in the rear resulted in the arrest of four men who were jailed on suspicion of selling cocaine.
Jose Leyva, 33; Jesus Machado, 21; Rito Rivera, 55, and Jose Garcia, 55, were being held in lieu of $2 million bail each.
“We believe that this residence was a major distribution point for cocaine between Mexico and Southern California and that these suspects were part of an elaborate cocaine trafficking ring that extends throughout the United States and Mexico,” a narcotics detective said.
