Arcadia : Large Lots and Llamas

Share

Residents with large lots will be allowed to keep pet llamas in their back yards under an amendment to the city code approved by the City Council on Tuesday.

The amendment will include llamas among the list of approved domesticated equine animals that may be kept in the city. It allows for two of the South American animals to be kept in residential areas with minimum lot sizes of 16,000 square feet.

Arcadia resident Sean Cheng requested the amendment because city officials last year forbade him to keep his pet llama at his home. The council approved the code amendment 4 to 0. Councilman Bob Harbicht was absent.
