A stalled station wagon was rear-ended Wednesday on the Golden State Freeway in Sylmar, killing a Lancaster man, the California Highway Patrol said.

Mario Guzman, 30, a passenger in the stalled vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at the Roxford Street exit about 8:45 a.m. The accident forced the closure of all northbound lanes for about half an hour, CHP Sgt. Robert Del Mese said.

Saul Cedano, 20, of Canoga Park, driver of the car that struck the stalled vehicle, was arrested for manslaughter and was in custody at the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, the CHP said. Cedano suffered minor injuries that were treated at the jail, Del Mese said.

The driver of the stalled station wagon, Alejandro Morales, 38, of Lancaster was not injured, Del Mese said. Also unhurt was the driver of a third vehicle--Victor Serna, 27, of Fillmore--which struck Morales’ auto as it careened across the freeway after it was hit by Cedano’s car, the CHP said.
