Sonora Stops La Quinta to Advance
LA HABRA —
Chris Nonis and Denise Donadio made their free throws in the clutch and Sonora held on to defeat La Quinta, 50-42, in a Division III-AA qualifying game Wednesday at Sonora.
Nonis made six of seven free throws in the fourth quarter and Donadio made four of six.
Jodie Fister scored 17 points and Donadio added 14 for the Raiders (10-12), who advance to play at third-seeded El Dorado Saturday.
Linda Rodriguez had a game-high 20 points for La Quinta (6-18).
