DeVillo W. Brown; Chairman of Bromar Food Brokerage

DeVillo W. Brown, 71, chairman of Bromar Inc., a food brokerage operation with branches throughout the West. Brown, a third-generation Californian, was a World War II veteran with a Silver Star for bravery in the South Pacific and a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in the invasion of Guam. He founded his food company after the war and its 13 divisions have about 1,000 employees. He was chairman of the National Food Brokers Assn. in 1967 and named to the Southern California Grocers Assn. Hall of Fame in 1981. Brown and his wife, Arla, were among the biggest contributors to the Orange County Performing Arts Center campaign. On Monday in Laguna Beach of leukemia.
