LISTEN UP, GOV: Hearing-impaired students at Kaiser Elementary School in Costa Mesa wrote to Gov. Pete Wilson in November to express concern about a proposed radioactive waste dump near the Colorado River. They wanted him to listen--and write back. When he didn’t, they sent a follow-up letter to the media blistering him for it, saying: “We are trying to learn responsibility . . . and feel the Governor has set a poor example.” . . . A spokesman says the governor has received 28,000 letters on the issue, and hasn’t had time to answer them all.
