Share

Moorpark residents may soon be able to watch meetings of the local school board on cable television.

The City Council has approved allowing the board of the Moorpark Unified School District to meet at the Community Center, where cable television equipment was recently installed.

Meetings of the Planning Commission and City Council are already televised from the center’s Apricot Room.

Members of the school board said they want to televise their meetings on the local cable channel to increase awareness of district activities.

City officials said the Apricot Room is available for the school board’s regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

The council approved charging school officials for the cost of the room, which comes to $225 per meeting.

School board members have indicated that they want to begin meeting at the Community Center as early as March.

The board is expected to take a final vote on the venue change at its next meeting Tuesday, which will be held at Moorpark High School.
