Pedestrian, 69, Dies After Van Hits Him
A 69-year-old man was struck by a van and killed Wednesday morning while jaywalking across a busy Lancaster street, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The Lancaster resident, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, said Deputy Mike Redding of the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The driver of the van, Phillip Quinn of Newhall, was traveling east on Avenue I and hit the pedestrian as the elderly man crossed near 11th Street West. Quinn, 24, was not cited.
