Santa Paula 75, Rancho Alamitos 62--Rancho Alamitos forward Ed Taylor scored 20 points--including four three-pointers--and grabbed nine rebounds, but Santa Paula eliminated the Vaqueros at Bolsa Grande High School.

Rancho Alamitos led, 22-14, after one quarter, but was outscored, 20-7, in the second quarter and trailed the rest of the game. The Vaqueros trailed by as many as 14 points, but cut the lead to five, 64-59, with 2 minutes 13 seconds to play but could get no closer.

Santa Paula’s Joey Ramirez made seven of eight free throws in the final minute to secure the victory for the Cardinals (20-5). Ramirez, who had 15 points in the first half, led all scorers with 26 points. Pat Villa added 18 points and Charles Hyde 12 for Santa Paula.

The Vaqueros, who finish the season 15-11, also got 12 points and five rebounds from Neravanh Phonexay.
