"T he Power, the Glory, the Glitz," the Feb. 16 profile of Marianne Williamson by Times staff writer Terry Pristin, has produced a large response from readers, about equally divided between praise and criticism of the controversial lecturer. A sampling:

Here we go again. Another sanitized, cut-and-paste version of biblical truth. Let’s claim love, peace and joy and anything else that feels good. But let’s ignore sin, repentance, sacrifice or anything remotely negative. We don’t want to upset our New Age, pseudo-spiritual psyches, do we?

It is so sad that people are paying yet another false prophet a great deal of money to feed them platitudes and watered-down Christianity, when the real thing is available for free! Not religion--but a relationship.

The deep hunger that draws people to various gurus can only be filled by God through His Son, Jesus Christ, if we only ask Him into our hearts. Then, you won’t need “A Course in Miracles,” because your spiritual eyes will truly be open to the miraculous.
