Servite has signed a five-year agreement to play its home football games at Cal State Fullerton’s new sports complex beginning in 1992, according to Athletic Director Tom Vitello.

Servite will open its season at its new home Sept. 11 against Mater Dei, the defending champion in Southern Section Division I. The Friars will play host to defending Division VI champion Valencia in its next home game, Sept. 18.

“We finally have a place to call home, where we can play all of our games on Friday nights,” Vitello said. “We’re excited about playing at Cal State Fullerton and opening the season against two CIF (Southern Section) champions.”

Servite has played its home games at Cerritos College, Glover Stadium, Santa Ana Stadium, Orange Coast College and Gahr and Brea-Olinda high schools in the past four seasons.

Vitello said Fullerton officials assured him that seating capacity will be 10,000 at Cal State Fullerton for the Mater Dei game.

Servite will play El Toro in a nonleague game before beginning play in the Sunset League. It marks the first time Servite has played an entire 10-game schedule against county teams.
