NORTH HOLLYWOOD : Driver Who Hit 10 Pleads No Contest

A North Hollywood man who plowed his Mercedes-Benz into a crowd outside a Sunset Boulevard nightclub pleaded no contest Monday to 11 counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of felony drunk driving, authorities said.

Mark Adam Reaser, 26, was sentenced in Santa Monica Superior Court to a year in prison and four years probation and was ordered to pay restitution, Deputy Dist. Atty. David Wells said.

However, Reaser, who has been in jail since May 19, was given credit for the time he has served and thus is eligible for immediate release, Wells said.

The incident occurred May 19 as Reaser was attempting to leave the parking lot of the Rainbow Bar & Grill shortly after 2 a.m.

The club had just closed and “there was a throng of people” blocking the exit, Wells said.

“Apparently Reaser got tired of waiting and was yelling and screaming,” Wells said. “He stepped on the gas and rolled people down like bowling pins.”

Reaser struck 10 people, causing moderate injuries to two, Wells said.

Alex Miranda, 18, of Rosemead suffered a lacerated liver and a 15-year-old suffered two broken legs.

Judge Robert Thomas also ordered Reaser to pay any civil judgments against him, Wells said.
