KCBS news director John Lippman supplied his own list of news employees whom he said might agree to be interviewed in conjunction with this story. The interviews were arranged by Channel 2 public relations director Carol Kinsey, and four of five people contacted spoke on the phone from her office.

* Weatherman Steve Rambo: “There have been a lot of people upset by things. At the same time, I’m seeing a lot of people who are working together who have not been working together before.”

* Camera operator Ray Armendariz: “He (Lippman) expects that everybody being paid as a professional should be conducting himself as such. The kind of money we make, we should be asked to do this much.”

* Camera operator Rey Hernandez: “I think he’s trying to bring everyone together and pull everything together. He’s dealing with a firm hand and some people don’t like it, but he’s getting to the bottom of everything.”

* Executive producer Michael Horowicz: “He’s disrupting everyone’s lives but someone had to do it. For a long time we were Montessori news. We’re not Montessori news anymore. If the bottom line is a better newscast and better ratings, how can I argue about that?”

* Anchor-reporter Terry Anzur: “He’s been straightforward and he’s been fair. You can’t ask for much more than that. I really believe he’s putting out a lot of energy to revitalize this newsroom.”
