THOUSAND OAKS : Council Declines to Schedule Recall Vote
The Thousand Oaks City Council declined Tuesday night to set an election after hearing that a petition drive to recall two longtime councilmen failed to collect enough valid signatures to be placed on the June 2 ballot.
City Clerk Nancy Dillon told the council that the 1000 Oaks Recall Committee fell short of gathering the 8,375 signatures required.
The citizens group fell short by 162 signatures in the petition for Councilman Alex Fiore, while one to remove Councilman Frank Schillo fell short by 150 signatures, elections officials said.
