The Santa Ana Zoo has invited the public to attend its 40th anniversary party Saturday.
The party, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include entertainment for children featuring clowns, a visit by Smokey Bear, and a crafts center. Zoo employee Jack Lynch will display memorabilia he has gathered over the 37 years he has worked there.
The anniversary, which officially occurs on Monday, takes place as the zoo gears up for a massive, $10-million expansion program that will double the number of animals to 600.
Admission for the party is $2 for adults, 75 cents for seniors and children and free for those celebrating their 40th birthdays this year. Parking is free.
The zoo is at 1801 E. Chestnut Ave. For more information, call (714) 953-8555.
