Driver Misses Turn, Hits Utility Pole
A San Diego County man was injured early Saturday after his car crashed into a utility pole along Highway 76, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Juan Chavez, 22, was reported in good condition Saturday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
Authorities said Chavez was driving east on a rural stretch of the highway near West Lilac Road, in far northeast San Diego County, when he lost control of his car while heading fast into a turn and hit a utility pole.
Chavez had to be pried from the twisted wreckage, officers said.
No charges have been filed in the crash.
