A suspected drunk driver was stopped and held for authorities by two motorists early Saturday after his car slammed into a truck on the Antelope Valley Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The truck’s driver, David Garber, 48, of Van Nuys, was not injured in the crash. Garber was traveling north at 6:15 a.m. near Agua Dulce Canyon when Henri Nalasco, 21, of Van Nuys, lost control of his car and slammed into the truck, CHP Officer Phil Jernigan said.
Nalasco was driving about 90 m.p.h. when the accident occurred, Jernigan said. The collision pushed the truck into a guardrail on the right side of the road, officials said.
The truck then skidded to the left and struck the center divider guardrail, Jernigan said.
Nalasco tried to flee but was stopped and held by two motorists from Acton until authorities arrived, Jernigan said. Nalasco was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, he said.
The truck, which was used for filming movies and videos and which Garber said was worth about $320,000, was destroyed, officials said.
