ORANGE : 3,000 Expected at Race to Aid Children

The seventh annual ‘Round Orange Race to benefit the Orangewood Children’s Home will be held April 5.

More than 3,000 runners are expected to join the 5K, 10K and Kids One-Mile Fun Run. The event is sponsored by Toyota of Orange, along with the city of Orange and the Chamber of Commerce. The Orangewood Children’s Home cares for abused and neglected children.

All race participants are eligible to enter a drawing for a 1992 Toyota. Cash prizes of $1,000 will also be awarded to each male and female winner in the 5K and 10K races. An additional award of $500 will go to any runner who breaks the course records in these races.

Race day registration begins at 6 a.m. at Peralta Junior High, next to Orange Mall. The adult races begin at 8 a.m. The children’s one-mile race begins at 9 a.m.

Entry fees are $18 for the 5K and 10K races and $10 for the Kid’s Fun Run for ages 10 and under. All entrants receive a T-shirt and pancake breakfast. Other prizes include a color television, a CD player and a bicycle.

Race entry forms are available at Toyota of Orange, Ski and Sports and any First Interstate Bank branch. Runners may also call the Orangewood Children’s Foundation at (714) 385-8110.
