A fire tore through four units of an apartment complex Monday morning and forced five people from their apartment, firefighters said.

The blaze started shortly before 9:30 a.m. in a trash bin in one of the apartments, fire investigators said.

Twenty firefighters extinguished the blaze at 714 W. Hall Ave. in about 12 minutes, said Battalion Chief Steve Pillar.

There were no reports of injuries, Pillar said. The fire caused about $100,000 in damage to the four units, he said.

The Orange County Red Cross provided temporary housing and food for the five adults in the unit where the fire started, said spokeswoman Judy Iannaccone.

The residents of the three other units were housed elsewhere in the complex, Iannaccone said.
