An Oxnard man has been convicted of bank robbery in a U.S. District Court jury trial in Los Angeles, the FBI announced Tuesday.

After two days of deliberation, the jury on Monday convicted Max Maurice Majeno, 35, of the Dec. 20 robbery of the 1st Nationwide Bank at 1055 S. Oxnard Blvd. in Oxnard.

Majeno was captured by Oxnard police in an A Street restaurant several blocks away, when a bank employee followed him there after the robbery.

A bank robbery demand note and some of the missing currency was recovered from him, said Charlie J. Parsons, the FBI special agent in charge of the Los Angeles office.

Majeno was indicted by a federal grand jury in January.

Sentencing has been set for April 27, at which time Majeno could be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

In a related matter, a West Los Angeles man was indicted Tuesday in connection with the robbery of a Camarillo branch of Security Pacific Bank in November, Parsons said.

An arrest warrant was issued in December for Jeffrey Boyd Miller, 29. He was arrested Feb. 24, when Los Angeles police captured him immediately after the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch in West Los Angeles, Parsons said.
