ANTELOPE VALLEY : School for Disabled Wins Contract
Desert Haven Training Center, a school for handicapped people in the Antelope Valley, was awarded a four-year landscaping contract at High Desert Hospital on Tuesday by Los Angeles County supervisors.
Desert Haven students have tended the hospital’s gardens since 1981, but in October, the county decided to see if it could find a lower-cost alternative and sought proposals from other bidders. In the end, the training center offered the best deal, at $84,954 this year and $361,658 over four years.
