Philip Cook III of Glendale was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout by Boy Scouts of America Troop 507, which is sponsored by St. Bede’s Church in La Canada Flintridge.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Philip organized the restoration of a canyon area behind Glendale Adventist Academy. The area was devastated by the College Hills fire of June, 1990.

The project consisted of coordinating activities with city and county officials and 40 volunteers, who cleaned up fire debris, removed burned trees, built several dams and cleaned out the primary debris basin.
