Student’s Speech on Hitler

Share

After reading your article I am outraged!

It would seem one William Seaver would remove from our classrooms the right to an open mind, to think, to have an opposing view or to express that view because it may be offensive to some people. Further, he would dictate to us whom we may speak about and censor our speeches.

While I am not an avid fan of Adolf Hitler by any means, I am an avid fan of the Constitution, which gives me the right of freedom of speech and I will fight to preserve that right for anyone, whatever his view.

An oratory contest was and should be judged on preparation, delivery and effectiveness (which speaks for itself in this case), not on the popularity of its contents. To do otherwise goes against everything this country stands for and should not be allowed to exist anywhere in these United States, not even in the Conejo Valley Unified School District.
