Celebrating Spring at Science Expo

Children and their families can celebrate spring at the Equinox Science Expo at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes on Saturday.
Sponsored by Science Adventures, the expo will feature a nature “treasure hunt” and programs for children about chemistry, electricity and animal diversity, as well as a science program for teachers.
Expo hours will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The teacher orientation will be at 11 a.m. Call (800)-4-SCIENCE.
ASTRONOMY
El Camino College Planetarium manager Jim Lund will look at “The Universe of Dr. Einstein” on Friday and March 27 at the campus planetarium. Programs begin at 8 p.m. Call (310) 715-3200.
Members of Western Observatorium will bring their telescopes to a “Star Trek in the Santa Monicas” outing to observe constellations and other night sky objects at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Call (818) 707-8540 for the location.
HEALTH/MEDICINE

BOTANY
Casual wildflower lovers as well as serious botanists can learn about the plants found in Charmlee Park on an outing led by California Native Plant Society naturalists at 10 a.m. Saturday. Children are welcome. Call (818) 348-5910.
