CALABASAS : Martha Mutz to Be Bay Laurel Principal
The Las Virgenes Unified School District has appointed a longtime teacher and administrator to head a new elementary school scheduled to open in Calabasas this fall.
Martha Mutz, now principal at Chaparral School in Woodland Hills, will head the fledgling Bay Laurel School beginning in July, Supt. Albert D. Marley said. The campus, which is under construction at Paseo Primario and Parkway Calabasas, will open Sept. 14.
Bay Laurel--the district’s eighth elementary school and the first to be opened in more than a decade--will initially serve about 350 students from Chaparral and Round Meadow schools, which have increasingly been strapped for space, Marley said. Enrollment is expected to double by 1996.
Mutz, a UCLA graduate, has been with the district since 1967, serving both as a teacher and principal. She has been at the helm of Chaparral for four years.
