A police officer was seriously injured Wednesday in Oceanside when his motorcycle collided with a car, police said.
Officer Scott Wright, 36, was responding to a call about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when his motorcycle was sideswiped by a car driven by Katherine Rivera of Oceanside, Police Sgt. Doug Timbs said.
Wright was eastbound on Mission Avenue, approaching Carey Road, when Rivera turned left at the intersection and hit him, Timbs said. The intersection does not have a traffic signal or stop sign.
Wright was thrown to the pavement and suffered deep lacerations, Timbs said. He was taken to Tri-City Hospital for treatment. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
