COUNTYWIDE : $28 Million OKd for Transit Projects
The California Transportation Commission has approved nearly $28 million in funding for three major highway and rail improvement projects in Ventura County, officials said Friday.
The state commission approved $25 million for improvements at the Lewis Road and Ventura Freeway interchange in Camarillo, said Mary Travis, manager of transit programs for Ventura County. The money will be used to widen portions of Lewis Road and to construct northbound on- and off-ramps, she said.
The commission awarded $2.4 million to erect a sound wall along a one-mile stretch of California 126 near Kimball Road in Ventura.
Travis said she did not know when work on either project would begin.
Also Friday, the transportation panel approved $280,000 for construction of a commuter rail station platform in Moorpark. Travis said work on the platform will start next month.
Commuter rail service linking Moorpark and Simi Valley with downtown Los Angeles is scheduled to begin in October.
