FAMILY FAIR: A family event sponsored by a laundry detergent company will be held at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet today from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Live entertainment will include mariachi bands and games, and drawings for prizes will be awarded. Admission will be free for those with an Ultra Surf flyer or who say they heard about the fair on Radio Alegria, KKHJ-AM or KMEX-TV.

WOMEN PILOTS: The Los Angeles Public Library will present two short films in honor of Women’s History Month. “Silver Wings and Santiago Blue,” a documentary about women Air Force pilots during World War II, will be shown Wednesday at noon in the sixth-floor auditorium, 433 South Spring St. “No Longer Silent,” a documentary about women working together against discrimination and injustice in India, will be shown on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the same site.

ILLEGAL APARTMENTS: The Whittier City Council is expected to consider an ordinance that would force landlords to pay the moving expenses of tenants occupying illegal apartments. Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., at City Hall, 13230 E. Penn St., Whittier.

POETRY: Los Angeles poet Donald Rawley will be reading from and signing copies of his books, “Mecca” and “Malibu Stories,” at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Big and Tall Books, 7311 Beverly Blvd.

COLLEGE WORKSHOP: The Los Angeles Public Library and Cal State Dominguez Hills will hold a free program, “Going Right On,” for students and parents on higher educational opportunities and college planning; Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Jefferson branch, 2211 W. Jefferson Blvd., and from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Baldwin Hills branch, 2906 S. La Brea Ave.

BULL RIDERS: Bull Riders Only, a new league of professional bull riders, will hold its national championship event Saturday at the Long Beach Arena. The tournament begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $19 to $28.
