Reynolds’ Death

Share

Although the tragic death of Paul Reynolds has apparently produced a lot of anger according to recently published letters, the Cardiff Town Council and Jeanette Reynolds have taken a more positive position that we hope others will recognize and agree with.

Instead of resorting to divisive finger-pointing and name-calling, we believe that we need to work to eliminate this “us versus them” attitude, and work for improvements which can be accomplished to benefit not only the safety of citizens but also our much needed and often unrecognized police force.

We have asked for an independent investigation because we want to make sure that all the facts (good and bad) are brought out, which will eliminate any hint of impropriety.

However, it is apparent from the facts released so far, that mistakes were made by both parties that night, and that arrest procedures can be improved, which would have prevented this tragedy.

Paul would have wanted change, not “cop-bashing.” He used to wave at them, saying to others, “You’ll never know when you need one.”
