The president of the Anaheim Area Visitor & Convention Bureau, William F. Snyder, plans to retire Sept. 30 after 24 years with the bureau.

During Snyder’s tenure, the Anaheim Convention Center’s business has grown from 92,000 convention delegates in 1968 to more than 1 million last year. He first served as executive vice president, then became president in 1973.

During the same period, the number of visitors to Orange County increased from 12 million to 38 million. Snyder, who will assist the bureau in its search for a successor, was unavailable for comment Friday.
