Checking the Channels: Daniel Stewart should feel right at home when he plays the son of Patrick Stewart on an upcoming “Star Trek: The Next Generation” segment. Daniel, 20, is the real-life son of Patrick, who stars in the show. The assignment marks the younger Stewart’s television acting debut. . . . NBC has come to renewal terms with “Empty Nest” and “Nurses,” giving “Nest” a two-year pickup and signing up “Nurses” for another season. “Wings” also has been renewed by NBC, and CBS will bring back “Knots Landing” for its 14th season in the fall.
