El Monte : Water Conservation Kits
The city has 1,000 free water conservation kits that officials plan to distribute to low- and middle-income households to help promote conservation, officials said.
In addition, the City Council on Tuesday approved a recommendation that water and community development personnel help install new shower heads and water displacement bags in toilet tanks.
Each kit provided by the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District will save more than seven gallons of water per person per day, officials said.
The city also will offer free inspections of toilets and areas of other potential water leaks.
No start date or exact income guidelines have been decided for the program, City Administrator Gregory D. Korduner said.
