HUNTINGTON BEACH : Armed Men Take Computer Chips
Four armed men burst into a computer company and stole $200,000 worth of computer chips shortly after other robbers struck a sporting goods store in the city, police said Wednesday.
Police said the computer chips were taken at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday at Princeton Technology Inc., 18411 Gothard St., which manufactures circuit boards. The gunmen bound the manager and a technician with duct tape, police said.
In the earlier robbery, three men walked into a sporting goods store, snatched clothing from the racks and fled, police said.
The incident occurred about 8 p.m. at Sportmart, 7433 Edinger Ave.
Store manager Robert Leopard told police he was arriving at the store as the robbers were fleeing. When he chased the three men through the parking lot, Leopard was accosted by a fourth man, apparently an outside lookout.
The man pointed a blue-steel revolver at him and yelled, “Freeze! Do you want to die?” the manager told police.
Police said the robberies were not committed by the same people.
