Besanson (1-1), a senior right-hander, struck out eight and had allowed only two sixth-inning walks before a single with one out in the seventh. The Oilers (10-2, 2-1 in league) got three more hits off Besanson, including Brian Feathers’ two-run single.

Besanson had two doubles and Keith Cowley had a triple and two runs batted in for the unranked Lions (4-6, 2-1). Teammate Jason Fabisiak was two for three with one RBI.
