UCLA Will Play Host to Arizona in Softball Doubleheader Tuesday

The top-ranked UCLA women’s softball team will play host Tuesday to second-ranked and defending NCAA champion Arizona in a rematch of last year’s final.

The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and will be televised on a tape-delayed basis by Prime Ticket at 7:30 p.m.

Arizona (32-3) ended UCLA’s streak of three consecutive championships last season.

The Bruins (31-0) are led by junior right-hander Lisa Fernandez, who leads the team in victories (13), strikeouts (112) and shutouts (10). She is second in earned-run average (0.51) and batting average (.410). Juniors Heather Compton (11-0) or DeDe Weiman (7-0) will pitch the other game.

The Bruins will tune up for the Wildcats by playing host to Hawaii today at 1 p.m.
