An Oxnard man has been accused of threatening a high school student who, he believed, had identified the suspect in a south Oxnard slaying, police said Thursday.

Jaime Sanchez, 18, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of intimidating a slaying witness, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Denny Phillips.

The incident followed the arrest Monday of Robert Truitt, 19, a suspect in the March 19 slaying of Manuel Albis outside a store in the 2100 block of East Channel Islands.

Truitt turned himself in to police after being named as a suspect in the killing.

On Wednesday, a student at Channel Islands High School whose identity was withheld, reported that Sanchez, an alleged member of the Lemonwood Gang in Oxnard, approached him on the school grounds, Phillips said.

According to the student’s report, Sanchez asked him in a threatening voice why he had told police about the shooting and promised to “get” him later.

The student called police, who then arrested Sanchez, Phillips said.

Sanchez was booked into Ventura County Jail and held on $100,000 bail pending an arraignment this afternoon.
