A Bakersfield man was killed and three passengers were injured Sunday night when a pickup truck crashed into a guardrail on the Golden State Freeway north of Castaic, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Mario E. Oceguada, 25, was killed when he was ejected from the pickup he was driving, Officer John Manduca said. Arturo Blanco, 27, also of Bakersfield, suffered major injuries and is in fair condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, he said.

Two youths, ages 12 and 16, who were in the bed of the truck, suffered minor injuries when they were thrown to the pavement, Manduca said. He declined to identify them.

Manduca said the CHP is investigating the possibility that Oceguada was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
