The Oxnard College Reentry Center is sponsoring the event along with five other community organizations.

Stephanie Edwards is scheduled to be the keynote speaker. Originally from Minnesota, Edwards appears in supermarket commercials on television and is also known for her 11 years as co-host of the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Organizers said they choose women they consider successful.

“We pick people who have good stories about how they got to where they are by being perseverant and having purpose,” event organizer Priscilla Partridge de Garcia said.

Camarillo Women’s Day drew 150 women in 1979, its first year, and grew to 1,000 women last year. Partridge de Garcia said she expects 1,000 women to attend again this year.
