SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

A Santa Paula woman crashed her car into the rear of a house as it was being moved on two flat-bed trucks through Oxnard early Tuesday morning, authorities said. The woman escaped with lacerations, and the house was moderately damaged.

Kathleen Mamlock was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after the incident, which occurred about 1 a.m. on Ventura Road north of Ivywood Drive, said Oxnard Police Officer Steven Lawrence.

Kerry Loop of Oxnard, a passenger in Mamlock’s car, was slightly injured but declined medical care, Lawrence said.

The accident occurred while American House Moving Inc. of Fontana was transporting a two-story house in two pieces from the Ventura Keys neighborhood, he said. The house, suspended on two trucks, spanned the entire width of Ventura Road’s northbound lanes, Lawrence said.

Witnesses told police that Mamlock slammed into the rear of the house while she was driving at least 40 m.p.h., leaving no skid marks, said Officer Steven Vendt.

The crash delayed the move an hour, while workers restacked supports that had been knocked out by the force of the impact, Lawrence said.

Mamlock was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center with lacerations to her forehead and hand, but refused treatment, Lawrence said.
